Everyday’s Fortune

Through Everyday’s Fortune I explore the loss of hope that I—along with all Lebanese—experienced from this revolution. The phrases on the cups are derived from conversations I had with various people suffering from the consequences, people with families with minimal income, minimal healthcare.

I chose to work with traditional Lebanese coffee cups for two reasons: the ancient tradition of reading fortunes through the coffee residue on the bottom of the cup, and that this tradition strives on hope and optimism. While the revolution began on that same note, it didn’t continue that way.
